From 1972-1974 he was the deputy chief of mission and charg daffaires in Vientiane, where he is credited for having helped the establishment of a coalition government which saved thousands of lives after the Fall of Saigon in 1975. Harry Walter Shlaudeman, 92, died Dec. 5, 2018, in San Luis Obispo, Calif. Shlaudeman served in the U.S. Marine Corps and later attended Stanford University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in English literature. His overseas posts included Karachi, London, Manila and Pretoria. Brock is survived by his wife of 30 years, Joy; a sister-in-law, Priscilla; and a niece, JJ. Howard Jefferson Sparks Sr., 70, died Jan. 10, in Mesa, Ariz. After serving in the U.S. Navy, Sparks entered the Foreign Service in 1985. As a Foreign Service officer, Rowe served in Europe and South America, as well as at the U.S. Mission to the U.N. Coming up from Jaffa one day, his car was ambushed by guerrillas and blown clean off the road. John William Denys Margetson was born on October 9 1927, the younger son of the Very Rev WJ Margetson, provost of St Marys Cathedral, Edinburgh, and the former Marion Jenoure. He is survived by four children, Tim, Priscilla, Nancy, and Susan; a sister, Ann; and six grandchildren. Mary Greenlee Falzone, 93, died Sept. 16, in Dunn Loring, Va. Falzone joined the Foreign Service in 1952, and immediately deployed to Taipei, Republic of Formosa. A Senior Foreign Service officer, Lehman held a number of positions within the Bureau of Overseas Building Operations (OBO) at the Department of State. He was predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Ellen Rae Suzy. After his military service, Sinnicki worked as a Foreign Service officer and served in Mogadishu, San Salvador, Panama, Islamabad, Warsaw, Belgrade and Ottawa. He later became the 19th director of the Office of Management and Budget in 1970 and served as secretary of the treasury from June 1972 to May 1974, but then left government to become executive vice president of Bechtel Group, a large engineering and services company, in which he later served as president and a director. He is survived by his wife, Angie; two children, David and Michelle; and a grandson. She is survived by her mother, brother, and sisters. He was successful in life, in business and with family, said his son, Eric de Jong. In retirement, he was an active volunteer at the Camp of the Woods, the Lake Pleasant New York Public Library, and the Hamilton County New York Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
